FISH OIL
Fish Oil Lowers Cholesterol
Buildup of bad (LDL)
cholesterol in the arteries leading to the heart and brain is called
atherosclerosis and may lead to heart attacks and strokes. It is
believed that good (HDL) cholesterol will help prevent this from
happening by carrying the bad cholesterol back to the liver where it
can be safely disposed of. Doctors are always trying to find a
way to lower the bad cholesterol levels and raise the good cholesterol
levels.
One inexpensive method to accomplish this is taking a fish oil
supplement. Numerious studies have shown that fish oil will
increase the amount of good cholesterol and lower the bad
cholesterol. Fish oil has also been linked with reducing the
levels of triglycerides in the blood stream. Patients with heart
conditions typically have high triglyceride levels.

There are ongoing studies
that suggest that consuming fish oil
supplements will help with lowering triglyceride levels. People
that
eat a lot fish in their diet tend to have fewer heart attacks and heart
disease. Scientist are not sure what the link is, but they
believe
that taking the fish oil supplements will help lower the risk for
people that do not like to eat fish.
In fact, the American Heart Association and the Food and Drug
Administration have stated that omega 3 fatty acids are important for
people heart disease.
If you wish to take a fish oil supplement for your heart health, be
sure to check the purity of the capsules. The fish source should
be
mackerel, cod or salmon as they are high in fatty acid content.
The human body does not produce omega 3 fatty acids on its own, and we
must obtain it through the food we eat or through taking
supplements.
It has long been known that eating fish is good for your health, but
now you can get the omega 3 benefits even if you do not like to eat
fish.
